I haven’t left the house much since Annie was born. But if there’s one thing that can get me out the door, it’s the nycmarathon. This day, this race, these runners — it’s all magical, and being at the finish line today, if only for a few hours, was exactly what I needed. I hope Annie grows up with the same strength, determination, and tenacity as shalaneflanagan, mollyhuddle, and des_linden. Biggest THANK YOU to christinerburke for convincing me to get out there today, CONGRATULATIONS to all of today’s amazing runners, and cheers to race director peter_ciaccia on an amazing 18-year career with nyrr.
