Summers in Toronto for me means waking up, eating my oatmeal, and heading to Withrow Park for 1-3 hours for some roller hockey. Big thanks to marsblade for making the experience even more legendary.
It's quite possibly the greatest feeling ever, knowing that I have the whole arena waiting there for me every weekday morning, with the sun shining and the tunes blasting.
It's out here where I made my greatest strides in stickhandling. It's where I figured stuff out, created new moves, new drills and new skills. And it's where I learned how to teach.
But more importantly, it's where I failed the most. Threw a lot of sticks at the fence, and smashed a couple on the ground or over the crossbar. But it was always because I wanted so badly to be better. To get to that next level. I demanded more of myself.
You don't have to have your own arena, you just need a place to call your own. Green biscuit, off ice stick, rollerblades, and decent pavement. Find it. And demand more of yourself. Push...
