The most optimal number of training days per week is …. It depends!
Your goals, your experience, your current status of bulking or cutting, injuries and weak points all weigh in to your most optimal number of training days per week.
If gaining the most muscle possible is your goal, you’ll likely need to train less, not more. You want to “stimulate, not annihilate” your muscles. For most, 4-5 days per week of heavy training is more than adequate for optimal muscle growth. Some of the biggest guys in the sport only train 4 days per week.
If your goal is cutting you can always add in extra cardio sessions! But, if you start programming HIIT sessions on your “off” days and then start to see intensity in the gym dropping, it’s because you’re not able to recover from all the stress being placed on your body.
Weak body parts can be trained more frequently, calves or delts could be hit many times per week. But, you want to evenly spread the volume so you can be INTENSE with each session...
