Reverse Dieting! Client spotlight: burnitbrent Should you reverse diet? Have you been competing, getting very lean or been in an extended period of caloric deficit? If so, you will eventually need to pull out of this spot, but make sure you do so correctly. Why can’t you just immediately eat the way you did prior to the diet? Because your metabolism has slowed to compensate for all the fat loss. Your body doesn’t want to get lean, and it slows body processes down to make sure you don’t die of starvation. If you immediately return to higher calories your body will happily throw on tons of fat. I see this all too often with competitors that get very lean, then completely go off their diet and sometimes add 20-30 pounds of bodyweight back on in just ONE MONTH. This isn’t healthy and doesn’t help achieve your physique goals either.
