Former Senator Tom Harkin championed disability rights and was the chief architect of the landmark Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), which was signed into law 30 years ago today. His commitment to disability rights extends far beyond the ADA. During his 40-year career in Congress, he also worked on the passage of the Christopher and Dana Reeve Paralysis Act of 2009.
