‘Desmarque’ is a Spanish term essentially meaning “the ability to lose your defender/create space”
Nothing revolutionary about it, but it is something that is simply not taught as a concept or skill in this country.
Most will throw it out to their players as a quick suggestion, but not nurture it as a habit for them to have in their game automatically. In other words, you’ll see it once or twice sporadically, but not as an autonomous thought/principle in their game.

And therein lies the issue with most principles in football. As a player and coach, don’t assume skimming over a topic will solidify it into a player’s game. Respect the process of teaching and don’t just throw out regurgitations expecting them to become habits.

This exercise for example, is not complex at all. The exercise is a tool. What you emphasize to your players creates the learning (and retention) process.
