Now that the open is over I think it is important to share this. For anyone who is feeling disappointed or discouraged in their performance, or may have trouble staying motivated in general remember this: the open is a tool, use it as such. It's easy to get caught up looking at leaderboards and seeing some of these elite athletes killing it as always or some who seem to come out of no where every year. A lot of people probably think that about me this year. Here are my results from the 2013 open, and the 2016 open. I progressed from 7284 in the world to 8th, but it took me 3 years of consistent hard work. I did my first open a couple of months after starting crossfit, and it was a huge reality check. Every year the open and other competitions have exposed my weaknesses, and allowed me to address them. So don't get discouraged, remember that at times progress might be slow, but just work to keep it moving forwards. Set goals and smash through them, whatever those goals might be. Good lu...
