That's wild: Dancing in the moonlight, sure — but have you heard of dancing in the deep-ocean twilight zone? Watch as a #bioluminescent deep-sea worm performs a hypnotizing "dance" in the darkness. Researchers from SchmidtOcean took the video along the coast of Chile and identified the ethereal creature as a segmented gossamer worm (Tomopteris) — a marine worm that spends its whole life in perpetual motion, without ever encountering the seafloor or sunlight. Using their paddle-like parapodia, they ripple through the water column in a way that looks almost like dancing. šŸ•ŗ šŸ“¹ Video by Schmidt Ocean Institute, used with permission. #thatswild #deepsea #deepseacreatures #bioluminescence
