Breaking Down the Baseball Start
Mason LaPlante is arguably our fastest athlete at
#DSTnorth, and consistently runs his 10yd starts in the 1.42-1.46 second range. After a slow start to the day, this post breaks down the adjustments that were made to improve this 1.48 second start to the 1.44 second start

Mason’s faster start shows him setup with a wider and slightly more open stance, which lowers his center of mass and makes it easier for his back hip and leg to clear forward on his first move
Picture 2: Plyo Step & Shin Angle
On his faster sprint, Mason strikes farther behind the start line, causing his center of mass to be farther in front of his base of support, making it easier to generate forward momentum. He also has a more positive shin angle, which puts him in a more advantageous position to generate horizontal force into the ground
