#TBT September is National Honey Month. In 1936, after 14 years of tenant farming, James and Nora Tinsley of Knox County, Tennessee used a loan from their local National Farm Loan Association to buy a farm of their own. By 1942, Tinsleys were growing tobacco, corn, hay, and oats, and caring for 75 hens and 9 beehives. Here, James Tinsley removes honey from one of his hives. Today, Farm Credit Mid-America serves Knox County.
