#TBT: September is National Chicken Month. In 1936, seven members of the Future Farmers of America in Falls Creek, Pennsylvania learned how to care for young chickens and also a bit about agricultural financing, too. With support from their teacher, Fred Burnell (left), the young men obtained a $300 loan from Butler Production Credit Association to purchase chicks, feed and an electric brooder. To the right of Burnell is John Brubaker, G.R. Moore, William Daugherty, Edwin Smith, Enlow Britton, Franklin Crawford and Earl Groves. Today, AgChoice Farm Credit serves Butler, Clearfield and Jefferson Counties. #FarmCredit100 Source: Farm Credit Messenger (March 1936)
