Along with its natural beauty it is also the backdrop to an old folkloric tale relating to a young girl of the same name, the origins of which are lost in time. The lakes, mountains and meadows of the region are the pearls studded into the rocks of the Dolomites and this area is a destination for many photographers. Lake Misurina is also where the speed skating events were held during the 1956 Winter Olympics of Cortina d'Ampezzo — the last time Olympic speed skating events were held on natural ice. The reflection here is always very beautiful, making it appear as if the hotel were nestled in the cliffs, and as it was noon and there was lots of natural light I was able to stop down to f/8 to ensure that everything was in focus."
