In Their Shoes • The Kids
This summer, we will shed light on different perspectives in fighting for a world absent of childhood illness. The patients at Connecticut Children’s, in addition to their siblings, parents, doctors, nurses, and more, come together to combat the same battle. We must recognize all of the individuals who join the fight, by taking a step “In Their Shoes.”
We start off this summer campaign by featuring no one other than the kids themselves.
Marissa (not pictured) experienced childhood illness firsthand, as she was born without a pulmonary valve and had to undergo numerous open heart surgeries. Today, Marissa thrives: “I can do so much more now than I ever thought I would…Connecticut Children’s was with us through it all.. Not only helping us being able to live with this, but being able to thrive with it… and just be the best person that I can be, even though I’m still overcoming something”.
