Walter Gretzky aka "Canada's Hockey Dad" I had many requests over the last few days for me to draw Walter Gretzky. I must admit, I prior to this I didn't know much about him. All I knew was that he was Wayne's father and was responsible for raising the greatest hockey talent to grace the ice. Prior to every portrait that I do I research as much as I can about the subject. When I did so with Walter, I was blown away. I understand now the national mourning for such an amazing man. He wasn't just Canada's Hockey Dad, he was simply put, an incredible individual. Even after researching and learning about him, I hesitated to draw Walter. Those of you that have chatted with me about my process know that I'm not a fan of drawing what many others have already drawn. However, something compelled me, beyond the requests, to draw him.
