#throwbackthursday In 1916, SWU, then known as Central Wesleyan College, received a grant of $5,000 to start breaking ground on the new Grimes Memorial Hall. The campus erupted in celebration with the entire student body taking a holiday from classes to commemorate the occasion. The “Ad Building” offered more than just space. It offered hope and promised a future for the college. Grimes Memorial Hall became the campus landmark, the college’s signature building for more than fifty years.
