This is Matthew. Matthew and I met in 2017 on a cold winter evening at Campus Martius. He shared me his story and I shared him mine. We had a great conversation about obstacles and overcoming them. I ran into Matthew the other day when dawntvisuals jessemcanally and I went to easternmarket to pass out socks, winter hats, toilet paper and water. He didn’t look so good at first. He looked defeated and tired. But after we passed out all the goods to his friends, he looked a lot better. Something sparked inside of him. What I learned is this: Happiness comes from having a purpose. We feel better by feeling valuable. So the next time you see someone down, tell them how valuable they are.
