When the COVID-19 pandemic forced businesses to shut down in early 2020, drag performers were not spared. Local queen Cherry Lemonade teamed up with fellow veteran of the Portland drag scene Gigi Gabor to create a mobile, outdoor drag show. Venues have since reopened, but the Curbside Queens haven’t looked back, performing 85 gigs in 2021 and have created a new show for this year. We sat down with Cherry Lemonade to learn how she first got into drag performing and how the scene has evolved since then.
