As the first snowflakes fly this season, we’re taking a look back at Maine winter traditions. For a story in our December 2017 issue, Matt Cosby took a trip to Carrabassett Valley for the winterkids_org Downhill 24 hosted by sugarloafmountain. This annual event runs for 24 hours, during which participants ski through the night to raise money for the WinterKids organization.
