Since settling in Maine in 1970, natasha_mayers_artist has grown her passion for art into a prolific career as a painter, teacher, and activist. Mayers was the first woman to teach at the state prison in Thomaston in the 1970s and has more recently taught adults with mental health disorders. As an activist, Mayers has made an impact creating signs and banners for progressive causes with the Artists’ Rapid Response Team and attending protests at sites like Bath Iron Works.
