The Thomas Hill Standpipe was erected in 1897 with the use of a portable sawmill and blacksmith shop. The riveted, steel tank holds some 1.75 million gallons of water and stands at 110 feet. This standpipe continues to provide water storage and regulates downtown Bangor's water pressure to this day.
