A band of severe thunderstorms swept across Central Texas, battering parts of the Hill Country late Monday into early Tuesday, March 23, 2020. Burnet County residents in Bertram, just west of Williamson County, suspected a tornado hit their town after two historic buildings built around the turn of the 20th century were heavily damaged.⁣ ⁣ For Amanda Powell, owner of Bertram Blend and Boutique, the destruction capped what had already been a tough year.⁣ ⁣ "The thing that I worked so hard for, for the last two years — through COVID, through, you know, being shut down for a week with the winter storm," Powell said. "All in one night, it fell to the ground."⁣ ⁣ Damage in Bertram may have actually been caused by straight-line winds, or possibly a downdraft called a microburst, according to the National Weather Service.⁣ ⁣ Tap the link in our bio to see more photos of the Bertram buildings and read more about how this week’s forecast might affect the Texas Relays. ⁣ Video by jayjanner ⁣ #ce...
