It’s been three weeks since February’s winter storm and still many Austin residents are without water. As of March 4, Austin utility officials said all or portions of about 50 apartment complexes across the city still were without water. “People all over the city have no idea that there are thousands of homes without water — and have went without for one to three weeks,” said Wesley Stewart, who runs Austin Needs Water austinneedswater. The organization has been hosting water drives at the Long Center in downtown Austin. Everyday Stewart and his volunteers load up vehicles and deliver water to communities hit hardest by water shortages. And Plumbers, like Joe Ochoa, have been working nonstop to restore water to homes. But parts and supplies are running low or are on back order at Lowe’s and Home Depot, he said.
