Warning video contains imagery some viewers may find disturbing. Travis Baker, a paramedic practitioner, has the credentials of a physician assistant and was hired by the City of Austin’s Office of the Medical Director and Austin-Travis County EMS to provide emergency services for folks who call 9-1-1 but may not need to go to the hospital. Baker travels in an emergency response vehicle and can provide services such as sutures and cesarean section that a paramedic can’t. When Baker started the position back in October it was temporary but recently it became permanent. Find out more about Baker by reading the story on statesman.com.
