This is a non-coronavirus related story but one brontewittpenn worked on for a few months about the disappearance of agricultural lands due to a growing suburbia in Central Texas. The reality for some farmers and ranchers is this: it is easier to sell their land than scratch out a living working from it. But for some farmers like Ron Collins, selling his family legacy is out of the question. In the 19th Century his family owned nearly 500 acres of pastureland in Pilot Knob near Austin’s airport. His great-great grandfather bought the land with gold coins once he was emancipated from slavery. Over time the land was sold and developed into what is now much of the areas suburbs.
