It’s as if you’re stuck smack dab in the middle of a twister — the whooshing of wings envelop your senses as your brain struggles to grasp the countless birds performing a synchronized dance against the twilight sky. Hundreds of thousands of Progne subis, the scientific name for purple martins, are roosting in Round Rock, Texas, in preparation for their journeys to South America. If you want to see one of the biggest biological wonders of the world, head to the Sam’s Club parking lot during sunset, and remember to quickly pick up your jaw (to avoid ingesting any droppings) as you peer up at the jaw-dropping natural phenomenon. WagsPhoto shot these photos last week as dozens of people watched nature work its magic. #Texas #PurpleMartins #Nature #Birds #ProgneSubis
