On Feb. 8, 2016, Ketty Sully's son, David Joseph, was shot and killed by a cop. As an immigrant from Haiti, Sully did not have The Talk with her children because she thought in America, police were supposed to protect and serve. Sully believes that her son was shot because he was black. "If it's a white kid, when the officer get there, he do everything he can to protect them," Sully said in her Creole-laced English.
