W.E.B. Du Bois is a social work trailblazer and leader. In addition to becoming a founding member of the NAACP, and leading social change, Du Bois created the term double consciousness. Double consciousness refers to the inner conflict that Black Americans experience living in a white dominate culture. Du Bois' work has shaped the social work field and continues to impact mental health community.
