He was a smart kid, good at math. Maybe he would be a marine biologist, or an architect. But ultimately, he turned to his first passion —art. And it didn’t take him long to make a distinct impression. Today, works by Jackson State University alum Felandus Thames hang in galleries both nationally and internationally. They have been bought and sold by noted collectors Jack and Connie Tilton, Kerry James Marshall and Christy and Bill Gautreaux, who appeared in ARTNews’ Top 200 collectors list in 2018.
