How can you mourn something that seems so long ago? Why do we even care? Tisha B’av is one of the toughest days on the Jewish calendar. There is so much destruction, so much death, so much torture. From ancient times through the middle ages until the modern-day, the ninth of Av is the main symbol of all the bad things that have befallen the Jewish people. While Tisha B’av is a day to mention the other nations and people who have tried to destroy us, that is not the goal. Tisha B’av is not Jewish history day.
