#themasters Monday reminder of the most epic practice round⛳️
Did you know? #amencorner got its name from Massachusetts sports writer Herbert Warren Wind.
Wind was born in Brockton and began to play @thornyleagolfclub at the age of 7. His career brought him to cover golf in Sports Illustrated.
In 1958, he coined the phrase "Amen Corner" to describe the way Arnold Palmer played the 11,12, and 13th in a somewhat miraculous manner.
Wind’s derived the phrase from a 1935 song he heard while a student at Yale, "Shoutin' in that Amen Corner" written by Andy Razaf.
