Not only do I love to meet fans and followers at my book signings, but I also enjoy meeting the wonderful shop owners of the small businesses who host me.
I would like to introduce you to Mariola and her daughter Nathaly, the mother-daughter duo behind folkloreandtradition. Mariola is beyond humble and shared her very inspiring story with me. She was born in Guatemala and when she first moved to the U.S. was a maid for a family for over 20 years and then her deep passion for the arts gave her the courage to start selling artisan goods at the Dallas farmers market. Eventually, her business grew into this beautiful artisan boutique filled with Mexican clothing, jewelry, accessories, and home decor all handmade by Mexican artisans.
For my book signing Mariola made homemade traditional Oaxacan tamales and served mimosas — I mean, how special is that??? She went above and beyond and I am so grateful 🙏🏼🥂🫔
