Look at this gorgeous hand-carved wooden bowl/tray with a hand-painting of St. Francis of Assisi. I purchased it at a church gift shop while in El Paso and have been trying to figure out how to use it in a photoshoot. I made a delicious tropical salsa and displayed some of the ingredients while trying not to hide the art. These are commonly called “batea” which is a painted tray made of wood or gourds. I have been collecting batea before I even knew there was a name for it. I can’t help fall in love with beautiful rustic pieces of art. In my instastories today I share some behind the scenes of a food photography day. I hope you enjoyed seeing a sneak peek of my hectic but delicious vida loca.
