On Friday street vendors gathered in front of Santa Monica City hall to protest against unfair treatment at the hands of the Santa Monica Police department. Throughout the past month the city of Santa Monica conducted multiple sweeps against the vendors. Issuing citations, confiscating equipment, and in some instances arresting them. The city claims vendors are in violation of certain health codes noting that it is illegal to cut fruit on site. Vendors are demanding solutions and not punishments to resolve these issues. #santamonica #streetvendors
