The case would be known as the “Jena 6” and he would ultimately spend 6 months in jail due to his family not being able to pay the money for his bond. He and the others eventually pleaded no contest to misdemeanor battery charges. After getting out of jail, he finished high school and went on to attend the University of Louisiana at Monroe. In 2019, he graduated from the University of Washington Law School, where he went on a full ride scholarship. Last year, he was sworn in as a lawyer by Louisiana Supreme Court Chief Justice Bernette Johnson.
