Today, Labour’s candidate to be your next Mayor of London, the highly criticised incumbent Sadiq Khan, launched what he termed his “new climate action plan” for the city.
Despite being in power for almost eight years, Khan has only today decided that this climate action plan is needed, and I’m guessing this is because his much-derided ULEZ expansion has failed to deliver on his promises for better air quality.
Because the truth is this. The ULEZ expansion isn’t designed to improve London’s climate. It’s just another greedy cash grab from a Mayor who has to tax the citizens to pay for his bankrupting of TfL.
In another announcement which smacks of their usual hypocrisy, the Labour Party also said it wouldn’t support the roll out of much hated ULEZ schemes across the country… but are happy for their Mayor of London to continue to tax the city’s poorest residents.
In other words; even his own party won’t back this terrible, regressive tax.
I believe that the upcoming London Mayo...
