Sam Jethroe became the first black major leaguer in Boston when he debuted for the Braves on April 18, 1950. The eventual Rookie of the Year went 2-for-4 with a home run and two RBI in his first game. Nicknamed "The Jet," Jethroe led the National League with 35 stolen bases in each of his first two seasons in Boston. #NickTurns100
