We were excited to learn our trip coincided with National Sea Turtle Day, and since it was a good day to be inside, we visited STAR at the ncaquariumri. The Sea Turtle Assistance and Rehabilitation [STAR] center attached to the aquarium had several turtles the day we visited and we could have spent all day learning their names, watching them and most importantly learning more about sea turtles so that we can work to make sure we aren’t harming their environment. Caring for sick and injured sea turtles has been a mission of the Aquarium for many years and with the help of the dedicated husbandry staff and the Network for Endangered Sea Turtles (NEST) volunteers, many sea turtles are successfully rehabilitated and returned to the wild each year.
