YEAR IN REVIEW: The Black Lives Matter movement made its way to Chapel Hill and UNC student-athletes took up the call to advocate for the cause. It was heartening to see student-athletes — some of the most high-profile individuals in Chapel Hill — supporting the movement. It wasn't just UNC either. Student-athletes from Duke, NC State and all over the country knelt to honor the lives of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor and many others who were taken too soon by police violence. There's a long way to go.
