YEAR IN REVIEW: Amid the pandemic, life in Chapel Hill tried to proceed as normal as possible. Several organizations stepped up to provide food drives for families in need. On the day that I was at the food drive, hundreds of cars lined up outside the Chapel Hill Public Library and dozens of volunteers were in attendance to ensure each family left with what they needed.
The Orange County Veterans Memorial also held their Memorial Day celebration, albeit with fewer people in attendance. Normally, the event would draw a large crowd. This time, less than a dozen people were invited and the event was streamed online.
Finally, the annual Carolina Blood Drive proceeded at the Dean Smith Center. For many people (including myself), this was the first time being back in an indoor space with a large crowd. However, the organizers of the event ensured everyone was spaced out.
