YEAR IN REVIEW: In an effort to get as much experience as possible, I applied for credentials to photograph @uncgymnastics in January. My knowledge of gymnastics was nothing more than what I had seen in the Olympics, so it was a bit of a learning curve. What I learned was that gymnastics is a sport with some of the best celebrations, high-energy moments and a relationship between coaches and players that is very tight. If you want to learn about photographing sports, I'd definitely recommend shooting gymnastics.
