Francesca grew up in Umatac, Guam, and her parents often made their favorite Guam dishes for Francesca and her siblings.
“Food plays an important part in my life because it helps me stay connected with my culture because there is not a lot of Pacific Islander representation in the USA mainland. Because my parents spent most of their lives in Guam, I learned a lot from the food that my parents were used to eating.”
Quinata’s favorite dish is Månha Titiyas, a sweet flatbread found in many local markets in Guam.
