Nancy is pursuing her Ph.D. in Organizational Communication and Technology in Communication Studies. Some of the challenges she has faced are not knowing how to navigate the ins and outs of being a higher education student. "My parents always encouraged me to go to college. Being able to get not only a bachelor's degree but now on my way to obtain a Ph.D. is so gratifying. I'm also the eldest of my four siblings, and this allows me to guide them in their academic journey and be a source of reference for them." Nancy's research is on risk communication in disaster management and how organizations and communities prepare, respond to, and recover from disasters.
