#OTD—February 13—in 1893, soprano Sissieretta Jones made her Carnegie Hall debut in the Main Hall, performing as part of a benefit for the World’s Fair Colored Opera Company. Jones was one of the first African American headliners to appear at Carnegie Hall, giving her solo recital debut in 1894.
