#OTD—December 30—in 1920, Marian Anderson first appeared at Carnegie Hall in a concert by the Martin-Smith Music School. Eight years later to the day, she made her Carnegie Hall recital debut, performing works by Purcell, Scarlatti, Martini, Debussy, Schubert, and more. She appeared at the Hall more than 50 times and served on the Hall’s board from 1960 until her death in 1993.
