Gospel singer and civil rights activist Mahalia Jackson made her
#CarnegieHall debut in 1950. Dubbed “The Queen of Gospel,” Jackson went on to perform eight more times at Carnegie Hall in the next 13 years, including appearances at the 1961 tribute to Martin Luther King Jr., and the 1963 benefit for the Student Non-Violent Coordinating Committee. Today we induct Mahalia Jackson into the Carnegie Hall Digital Hall of Fame 2017.
