Violinst Jascha Heifetz made his Carnegie Hall debut on October 27, 1917, as a newly arrived teenager from Russia. He played with astonishing technical accuracy, an infallible sense of structure, and searing intensity, going on to perform at Carnegie Hall 141 times over the next 49 years. Itzhak Perlman has called him “the greatest violinist that ever lived,” and he may well have been. Today, we induct Jascha Heifetz into the Carnegie Hall Digital Hall of Fame. #CarnegieHall #DHoF Portrait: stan_chow
