“I've been a fan of [Kim] Burrell's for about seven years and I've found myself in an "Almost Famous" relationship with her, à la any aspiring photojournalist that gets to know their muse intimately. And so, when I was spending time with Kim Burrell this past October, backstage at Kings Theatre in Brooklyn, we talked about her (then) upcoming performance at Carnegie Hall after wrapping up the fall Festival of Praise Tour. She told me that ever since she was a little girl and saw Sissy Spacek in "Coal Miner's Daughter," she dreamed of playing at the venue. Some dreams are a lifetime in the making and I'm glad I was there last night to witness hers become a reality. [This is] a picture of us in her dressing room at Carnegie Hall. There have been countless moments where I've photographed her image through a plane mirror in the wings of various music halls. It sort of epitomizes our rapport.” –William Murray, photographer at kimburrelllove’s 12/9 gospel concert
