Monument Valley, Grand Falls, Antelope Canyon, and the Grand Canyon are all right in her backyard. Is it any surprise that she loves nature and landscape photography? When Sara recently asked me to shoot some 8th grade graduation pictures for her, I figured it was a good time to make a lesson out of it and introduce her to a series of environmental portrait techniques. This moonlit image of Sara under White Mesa Arch created by mixing nocturnal photography with light painting. Once I had finalized my composition and locked down my tripod, I placed Sara in the foreground, just a few meters in front of my lens.
