This portrait is from an engagement session I shot for my amazingly beautiful friends. I created this image on a frigid winter day, and we wanted to grab a few outdoor shoots but to do so quickly! I scouted around the corner from my studio until I found this beautiful and cinematic looking natural light bouncing off of large white building, creating a soft and directional light source. Behind them was nothing more than a metal door, so I decided to shoot at a very wide aperture to kick it out of focus and to create a romantic and dream-like mood to the image. I chose the EF 85 f/1.4L for flattering compression and shot wide open at F/1.4 for a striking narrow depth of field that helped simplify the scene behind them.
