“I’ve been swimming my entire life, and I belong in this sport. My ancestors fought so that I could embrace my dreams. I swim for myself, for my ancestors, and for everyone who dreams of accomplishing things regardless of their race. I swim because the color of my skin does not determine what sport I can play, even if society has tried to tell us otherwise.” - Sophomore Swimmer Mathilde Jean
As we celebrate Black History Month, let us also recognize the need for more black athletes in aquatic sports. It is our responsibility as members of the swim & dive community to promote diversity and inclusion in sports that have lacked it for so long.
